Could the Ministry be failing to keep us safe?
We all have heard the stories of what it was like during the second rise of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Those that lived through it still shudder at the thought of anything like it happening again. The ministry couldn't get their head out of the kettle and no one seemed to care who was holding the wand. Supporters of the hated wizard had taken over the Ministry completely and we lived under a thread of azkaban or worse for anyone who even looked at their owl funny. We've had many peaceful years since then, not in any small part due to Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and other such notable heros from that time. Though we admit that Ronald Weasley has only acted as an extra wand here and there in the past few years, his efforts are not without mention.
Though we don't have a looming threat of a dark wizard on the horizon to crush us, we have our own problems. Mainly how to re-build our world after all of the destruction and chaos that was the aftermath. Wizards and witches world wide pouring out of the paintings with claims of this or that, and neighbor against neighbor. Reports have flooded in to the Prophet about certain ill-doings going on at the Ministry yet again. Of course we couldn't let this stand without checking into them, and check into them we did.
It turns out that several of the former supporters of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named have been released from Azkaban. Good behavior, the reports say though how anyone can have good behavior in a place like that is beside us. More to the point, they have been given employment placement assistance, Galleons of support for places to live and money to buy things that we all need such as wands, and robes. A closer look at the orders for their release finds a one "Reginald Garvey" as the signer. Upon inspection, no Reginald Garvey works at the Ministry at all, and more to the point no one under that name ever has worked for the Ministry.
When questioned about the nefarious acts of this "Reginald Garvey", the Minister had this to say: "We are looking into the matter, but as you can imagine we are very busy, and have little time to look into every single parchment that comes out of here. Its better that you mind your own business and leave Ministry Affairs to ministry workers."
It's unclear as of yet if the Ministry will ever look into this, and most people at the Ministry claim to have no knowledge of these people being released. What will happen next? Should we be looking to the skies for the Dark Mark? One thing is clear in all of this, the Ministry is not about to open their doors for inspection any time soon.
Dragon are NOT pets!
A recent rise has been sweeping the kingdom, dragons under every bed and porch post. It seems these large scaly fiends have become the new craze. Of course dragons are illegal to own in the UK and most of the rest of the world, and for good reason! They may be cute and one could argue in need of a good cuddle when they are only hatched. Once they grow larger than a month or two, you're bound to need a new house. These things grow at rates that are almost unlike anything we have seen before. There are huge dangers with owning a dragon, and even more with trying to raise one! Now it seems that every child with a toy wand wants a dragon for a pet. We understand folks, they protect your home well, but couldn't you stick with a large dog and get the same result? We asked Charlie Weasley what his take on this was. He was quoted "Dragons are not like normal pets. They are highly intelligent and have a fierce temper if they feel slighted. They aren't good pets. We train for years and years to be able to handle these dragons, there is no way a regular family could hope to contain one for long. We've seized over 300 dragons and eggs in the past two months. We are hunting down whoever is supplying the dragons and will be taking severe action against them." After the interview Mr. Weasley gave this reporter a tour of the facilities they use to work with the dragons. Impressive doesn't even begin to cover it. After getting up close with one of these winged beasts, there is no doubt they are not pets! The Ministry is asking everyone, if you have any information at all about the rise of dragons in the UK, to not hesitate to send in your owl. A reward is available to anyone who provides information that leads the the capture of the dragon trader, to seizure of dragons.
A new town on the horizon..
Survivors of the Battle of Hogwarts years ago have finally one in court, the right to build and make their very own town. Land has been carved out in South Wales for this project. With(there only being a handful of pure magical communities in the world left, any news of a new one is welcome. Already witches and wizards are lining up around the streets to get a chance to buy a home in this new town. One witch, Izlith Wiggs, has been saving for four years to buy her very own home there. She's been renting a room from muggles and living in complete secret. She cleaned out her bank vault only this morning and has whisked away ahead of schedule to camp out until the town breaks ground in a few weeks. No news as of yet to what this new town will be called, but we are anxiously waiting. It promises to be the largest all magic community ever built. Even Gringotts is considering opening a smaller second location in this new town. Shop owners from Diagon Alley are following suit and several house elves that were previously freed or found without owners after the Battle of Hogwarts have spoken out that they are looking forward to serving families in this new town. We've seen designs and maps of this new town, and folks we are talking HUGE. Definitely able to rival a muggle city. Witches and wizards are breaking into the future that's for sure!
